Hotel LaFontaine documentary needs funding

Posted: Friday, December 22, 2017

White Horse Entertainment, under the legal name of Matthew Wayne Murray Presents LLC, is in the final stages of producing a documentary about the history of The Hotel LaFontaine. The film project covers the history of the hotel from its construction in 1925 to present day.

With funding from grants and private and business donations, plans include airing the program on PBS and other networks in the spring of 2018. Toward this aim, donations are being sought to match a $3,500 grant from an anonymous donor to finish the project. The documentary has approximately 60 minutes of run time and is designed to specifically preserve a portion of Huntington’s history.

A local group of individuals have worked to gather important data about the hotel. Strong emphasis is placed on the back-story of the saga, J. Fred Bippus, the man who had the vision to build it. Also included are those who took part in the restoration and interviews with those who were involved. Fond memories of those who worked there or visited the hotel in their youth are also included.
