Hope Christian School to open in August

Posted: Thursday, November 29, 2012

Jon and Kelli Moore of Huntington are the co-founders of Hope Christian School, a new K-12 Christian school, which will open in August 2013. Life Church, 960 E. State Street, will be the site of the future school.

Hope Christian School is a division of Huntington Hope Christian Services, Inc., a not-for-profit organization incorporated in January 2011 for the purpose of expanding Christian education services to Huntington and the surrounding counties. It is an independent, non-denominational K-12 Christian school developed from a passion to provide Huntington County’s children with a local opportunity for a loving Christian education. Hope Christian School is incorporated with the state of Indiana as a not-for-profit organization and was approved by the federal government as 501(c)3 organization. The school was also approved by the Indiana Department of Education to operate as a private school in 2013.

Each day Hope Christian School will begin the day with prayer and devotion time, and every aspect of the school is filtered through the lens of God’s Word, according to school administrators. The school will focus on academic excellence and developing servant leaders through students working in teams on service projects each semester.

Enrollment criteria includes students reaching age 5 by June 1 for kindergarten, a commitment by parents to lead a Christ-centered life, commitment by students grade 7 through 12 to lead a Christ-centered life and a reference letter completed by a pastor or other church leader. An application for admission must be submitted with the reference letter and $50 to the school office. Once the application undergoes administrative review, an interview will be scheduled with the student and parents and families will be notified of the enrollment decision.
