HNHS needs sponsors for certification classes

Posted: Friday, December 29, 2017

Huntington North High School is looking for sponsors for their 2018 Microsoft certification classes. Both high school and adult students currently take advantage of these classes.

According to Russ Degitz, principal at Huntington North High School, the State of Indiana Department of Education has always supported teaching the Microsoft Tools classes including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to students in Huntington County in the past. This year, the Department of Education will not provide the funding to teach the classes because of budget cuts.

Both high school and adult students rely on those classes to help them receive their certifications to assist them in finding viable employment. The certifications are also important to local employers as they are able to hire individuals that are better prepared for the workforce. Currently HNHS has sixteen students enrolled in the classes. The certification software license is $3,600 per year. The license will not only help those enrolled now, but can be used for high school and adult students taking the classes in the fall. The software licensing fee has an unlimited amount of students that are able to take the classes.

If you would like to help with the funding of the Microsoft certification classes, send your sponsorship investment to: Huntington North High School, Attn.: Russ Degitz, 450 MacGahan Street, Huntington, IN 46750 with Microsoft Certification written in the memo line. If you have questions, you can reach Degitz at (260) 356-6104.
