Historic Warren receives grant for downtown

Posted: Thursday, December 6, 2012

Historic Warren received a Downtown Enhancement Grant to fund façade upgrades to downtown structures. The organization was selected among nine grant winners by Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman.

The Downtown Enhancement Grants are administered by the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) and were created to fund projects that support and promote community-based planning, marketing and restoration efforts for Indiana Main Street communities. The nine grants awarded totaled nearly $45,000 with Historic Warren receiving $5,000.

The façade improvements in Warren will include exterior painting, restoration of awnings, window replacement and masonry renovation. The organization has partnered with the town to provide matching funds for the establishment of this program.

Indiana Main Street, a division of the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, was established to provide economic revitalization and professional assistance to participating communities. Indiana Main Street encourages the revitalization and restoration of downtown areas in Hoosier cities and towns.
