Hill and Park named Lilly Scholarship runners-up

Alexa Hill and Nathan Park, members of the Huntington North High School Class of 2016, have been named as Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship finalists for Huntington County. As such, both will receive $1,500 scholarships for each of their four years of undergraduate study provided by the Huntington County Community Foundation.

Hill is the daughter of Cheri and Michael Hill of Huntington. She will be attending Grace College, majoring in Elementary Education, with plans to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a teacher. She also plans to play volleyball at this next level.

During her high school career Hill was a four-year member of the HNHS volleyball and softball teams, served as a Trip Leader on multiple mission trips, was a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Athletic Board. Her community service activities include classroom teacher for the children’s ministry at Life Church, Operation Backyard, serving holiday meals at the LaFontaine Center and tutoring at Life Church and the Boys & Girls Club.

Park is the son of Melanie and Stephen Park of Andrews. He will be attending Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis majoring in Biomedical Engineering to aid those with health problems.

While at HNHS Park has been a 10-year member of 4-H, captain of the HNHS soccer team, Class Council, National Honor Society, Freshman Mentor, Academic Super Bowl, swim team member and participant in Huntington County Youth Leadership Academy. In the area of community service, he has served as prosecutor and jury member for Teen Court, registered patients in the ER at Parkview Huntington Hospital and designed and built the children’s loft at the Andrews Public Library.
