Heydes, new owners B-K Drive-In Restaurant

Posted: Friday, March 16, 2018

Kirk and Kim Heyde are the new owners of the B-K Drive-In Restaurant. The couple purchased the business from Roger Stephens on January 1. B-K is located at 1218 S. Jefferson Street and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., but will eventually expand its hours to 10 p.m.

The Heyde family formerly owned the Huggy Bear in Warren, and also the hardware store in that community for several years. Kim Heyde has worked at First Merchants Bank for several years and will continue her employment there. She also plans to help out at the restaurant along with Kirk’s sister, Stacey Kellam, as needed.

Kirk Heyde says while he wants the B-K tradition to continue, he also wants to add some new items to the menu. Among those additions are a premium chicken breast sandwich, premium chicken strips and a premium fish filet. An expanded kids’ menu will include mini-corn dogs.

But with the new menu additions, Heyde also wants to keep much of the old style and feel of the B-K. The original lighting is being brought back around the building to give it more of the look of the past, and classic rock and roll will be played through the sound system.

Heyde said that he wants people to experience a part of the past, and wants it to be a family environment where people can get a taste of what it used to be like.
