Heritage Days steering committee busy

The steering committee for Heritage Days 2013 is busy planning all of the activities that make this time each year special for the community and visitors. Forms for parade registration, participation in The Marketplace, Bed Race and other events have been sent out and are also available on the Chamber’s website at

Steamin’ Into Huntington, the 2013 theme, remembers the history of the railroad and its influence in developing Huntington County. The window decorating contest will once again be coordinated by Phyllis Renz. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows to help celebrate Heritage Days in Huntington. Forms will soon be ready for those wishing to participate. A cash prize will be awarded to the winner of the contest. Heritage Days 2013 will include Poor Jack’s Amusements with the carnival; ice cream social; Chief’s Breakfast; parade; 5K Run; car-tractor-motorcycle show; Kids Zone including a Mobile Reptile Zoo, pony rides, petting zoo, train express and more; Hot Air Balloon Launch and Glow including a Bed Race and Cruise-In, The Marketplace, Bookworm, YMCA Strong Man competition and sand volleyball tournament, 3 on 3 basketball tournament; Historical Society events; Historic Forks of the Wabash activities; Eagles’ events; ABWA Brat Tent; JeFFFest and much more.

Those organizations or individuals planning to participate in any of the activities are encouraged to return their entry forms to the Chamber as early as possible. This ensures a guaranteed placement in the desired event.
