Heritage Days parade winners announced

The 50th Annual Heritage Days Parade took place Saturday, June 22 with 108 entries. The winners of the various categories were decided by a group of judges organized by Barb Rupley, Heritage Days steering committee.

The Best Theme Float in the parade was Christian Life Tabernacle, sponsored by Matthew F. Capozza. First Place for the Best Religious Unit went to Central Christian Church/CCC Express, sponsored by Edward Jones – Chuck Harris.

The Best Adult Group was Huntington County Council on Aging 40th Anniversary, sponsored by Bowers Jewelry. West Park Skate Center was named the Best Youth Group, sponsored by The Huntington County Tab, while the Best Performing Unit was the Huntington North Dance Team, sponsored by The Country Post Inn.

The Mizpah Racing Shriners, sponsored by C & C Auto Body, were named the Best Motorized Unit. Ageless Iron of Roanoke, sponsored by Zay Leasing & Rental, was named first in the Best Antique Vehicle category.

The Best Horse Unit was the LaFontaine Saddle Club, sponsored by Myers Funeral Home, and the Best Marching Band was the Huntington North High School Band, sponsored by the Moose Lodge. The Best Marching Color Guard was the Eagles #823 Flag Team, sponsored by Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar.

The Chamber of Commerce thanks all those who participated in this year’s parade and congratulates the winners! Winning plaques may be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce office, 305 Warren Street, during regular business hours.
