Heritage Days community asks for support

Posted: Friday, January 20, 2017

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce Heritage Days steering committee is looking for support from the community. The 2017 event will be held from Wednesday, June 14 through Sunday, June 18, with the theme: The 40’s: Liberty, Democracy, Dignity.

Part of the celebration will be a Friday evening, June 16, USO party at the Hotel LaFontaine beginning at 7 p.m. Those attending will enjoy the Erie Band performing songs of the era and delicious h’oeuvres. Guests will be encouraged to dress in 40’s garb and enjoy the Downtown Car Show before coming over to the hotel. Sponsors are needed for the event at the hotel.

The steering committee is also looking for an individual or group willing to coordinate the bed race event. The race will take place during the Hot Air Balloon Festival on Saturday evening, June 17. Activities involved with this volunteer position include working with the Chamber to plan the event, receiving the applications prior to the race, being available to answer questions for those building beds and heading up the bed race event on Saturday evening.

An overall financial sponsor is also needed for Heritage Days. The funds from this sponsorship help to finance the festival. The individual or group willing to be this sponsor will have their business promoted on all Heritage Days materials including the signs, brochures, official Heritage Days buttons, Facebook posts and printed stories.

For more information or to volunteer call the Chamber office at (260) 356-5300 or email
