HARTA-Ween Zombie Dash is October 12

Join HARTA for the Third Annual HARTA-Ween Zombie Dash on Saturday, October 12 at Yeoman Park, and experience the Erie Trail firsthand. The race is open to all ages. Participants may choose a 10K or a 5K route and a one-mile loop is available for non-competitive participants. Proceeds and contributions from the event will go toward supporting the development and maintenance of trails in Huntington County.

The participant’s goal is to complete the 10K, 5K or one-mile loop with as many lives left on their life belt as possible. Zombies and other Halloween creatures will appear on the trail and will try to snatch away their lives. Participants may choose to walk or run the race and may opt out of the zombie-snatching. Food and drinks will be available for purchase by the Chow Down Food Truck.

Each paid entry receives a T-shirt, finisher medal and a swag bag. The top male and female finishers for the 10K and 5K event will receive additional awards. Halloween costumes are encouraged for race participants as well. Those registered by October 4 are guaranteed a race T-shirt. The T-shirts will be available the day of the event while supplies last. Pre-paid registration fee is $15 for students (with valid student ID, available at checkout); $20 for individuals and $45 for a family of five with each additional person $8. On the day of the event, the registration fee is $20 for students; $25 for an individual and $50 for a family of five with each additional person $8. Check-in is 4 to 4:30 p.m.; race begins at 5 p.m. Rain or shine!

Volunteers are also needed to be Halloween creatures, monsters and zombies. The role as a Halloween creature if you dare is to shuffle, walk and grunt while you try to seek and snatch a life from the humans. Volunteer awards will be given for best costumes; must be present to win. Volunteers must be six years old and over and must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are also needed for race crew, water stations, race registration, pumpkin/scene decorators and race chasers (those that follow the runners to the finish line.
