Habitat needs volunteers for April 9

Posted: Friday, April 1, 2011

Huntington County Habitat for Humanity will complete up to 10 projects on Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to noon with volunteer help. Sixty people are needed to assist with “A Brush with Kindness” (ABWK).

Painting, landscaping, garden preparation, weather stripping, and minor repair services are some of the tasks to be worked on that will benefit low-income, fixed-income, and disabled homeowners. Participants will meet at the Habitat office, 1454 Etna Avenue, at 8:30 a.m. for refreshments and to meet other volunteers.

Volunteers in groups of six will complete the various projects with supplies, tools, and crew leaders provided. Huntington University students as part of the campus-wide Spring Work Day will also provide some of the labor.

To participate in the work day call 356-7425. Children 12 to 18 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult and are not allowed to work on sites with power tools or overhead work. “A Brush with Kindness” is underwritten by a grant from the Huntington County Community Foundation.
