Guild awards scholarships to Smart, Brunner

Miranda Smart and Kayla Brunner have been awarded scholarships by the Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild.

Smart, a rising sophomore studying at Ball State University plans to continue her studies toward a master’s degree in speech pathology at that institution. This is the second time she has been awarded a scholarship by the hospital guild. She is the daughter of Todd and Laura Smart of Huntington.

Brunner works as a phlebotomist and lab assistant at Parkview Huntington Hospital (PHH). Having already earned an Associate of Science degree from Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne, she will now be pursuing a bachelor degree in medical lab technology at Manchester University. She is the daughter of David and Sarah Brunner of Huntington.

“Congratulations to both of these wonderful young ladies,” said Carol Strickler, chair of the guild’s scholarship committee. “It is a pleasure to provide them with scholarship assistance so they can continue building their skills and knowledge with the goal of helping others.”

Graduating high school seniors or those who are already in school and working in a health-related field – who are interested in applying for a Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild scholarship should refer to the Huntington North High School Guidance Department or the financial aid office at Huntington University for application information.
