Grill Master Cook-Off scheduled September 17

Posted: Friday, July 29, 2016

Community & Family Services will hold their First Annual Grill Master Cook-Off on Saturday, September 17. The event will be held at Drover Park located at 1215 Etna Avenue.

All proceeds from the event will go to support the Energy Assistance program, which is a program that helps clients keep their electricity and heat intact during times of need. All proceeds remain in Huntington County.

This year’s event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or until the food is gone, whichever comes first. To give the contestants enough time, grillers are welcome to set up as early as noon. For only $5 per plate, guests can enjoy the grill of their choice as well as a side dish, drink and dessert. For each additional meat patrons would like to sample, it would be $2 per grill.

Rules for the event are as follows: Set up time will start at 12 noon, as some contestants may need a little more time to prepare their dishes. Each contestant must provide their own grill or smoker. Each contestant must provide 40 servings of the meat they would like to serve. All food must be cooked on site and there will be three special guest judges to help determine the winner. The winner will receive an apron embroidered with ‘2016 Grill Master Champion,’ and each griller will receive a free t-shirt commemorating the event.

Those interested in being a griller, patron, or sponsor, Community & Family Services would appreciate your time. For more information contact Angela Davisson at Community & Family Services at (260) 356-1098.
