Posted: Friday, October 4, 2013

Gerdau Special Steel held a ribbon cutting Wednesday, October 2 for its $27 million expansion at the Huntington plant. The expansion includes a fifth quench and temper line that adds strength to steel bars used for electric powered steering systems for the automotive industry.

Gerdau representatives and officials from Huntington County were on hand to celebrate the expansion and the ten percent increase in employment at the facility. Mark Wickersham, executive director for HCED, said this was the 54th project of its kind in Huntington within the past six years.
