Free parenting class offered at YSB

Posted: Friday, October 30, 2015

“Media and the Family” will be offered on Thursday, November 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Youth Services Bureau’s office. The office is located at 1344 Maple Drive. There is no cost to attend but space is limited. RSVP’s are requested.

The training will discuss the effects TV, movies and video games have on our children and how to set age appropriate guidelines. Other areas that will be addressed are the challenges of social media and how parents can become more informed and take a more active role in setting limits for their children of all ages.

“The debate on how media affects our children has been ongoing for years and continues to be so. This training will explore that very question with data, research and practical approaches parents can take within their homes,” stated Chauncey Armstrong, Empowering Parent coordinator.

Empowering Parent is one of the 12 programs offered by the Youth Services Bureau of Huntington County. To learn more about the program or the agency, or to RSVP for the class, contact the YSB at (260) 356-9681 or email Chauncey at
