Posted: Friday, February 19, 2016

The Chamber of Commerce will hold an American’s Disabilities Act (ADA) Seminar on Tuesday, March 8 at the Habecker Dining Commons on the campus of Huntington University from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The guest speaker will be Stephen Metzer, AICP, PWS, who will discuss “Trying to Avoid ADA Problems in Your Business.” DLZ Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Surveying, and Construction Services will sponsor the breakfast.

In this presentation, Metzer will present the requirements of ADA Title III on private businesses, the most common problems and topics of lawsuits, and some of the most important things to fix to provide at least basic accessibility. Those attending the seminar are asked to send in pictures in advance of present ADA situations that are of concern to business owners. This includes areas that are believed to need improvement. Please send photos by Wednesday, March 2 to smetzer@dlz.com. There will be handouts available for those in attendance.

There is no charge to attend and a free full breakfast buffet will be served. Those interested in attending must RSVP to the Chamber of Commerce by Friday, March 4 at skimmel@huntington-chamber.com or call the Chamber office at (260) 356-5300.
