Frederick named afterschool ambassador

Posted: Thursday, October 11, 2018

The Afterschool Alliance has announced that Desiree Frederick, unit director at the Parkview Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County, has been selected to serve as a 2018-19 afterschool ambassador.

Frederick is one of just 15 leaders around the country this year chosen to receive this honor. Each afterschool ambassador will continue leading a local afterschool program while also serving a one-year afterschool ambassador term, organizing public events, communicating with policymakers and in other ways growing awareness and support for afterschool and summer learning programs.

The Parkview Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County serves on average 320 youth daily between their before and afterschool programs. The program has two sites, one located in Huntington and one at Salamonie Elementary School in Warren. The Afterschool Alliance is a nonprofit public awareness and advocacy organization working to ensure that all children and youth have access to quality afterschool programs.
