Forks announces events happening at facility

Posted: Friday, August 4, 2017

The Historic Forks of the Wabash will be host to the rescheduled Splash on the Wabash on Saturday, August 12. The event that was originally scheduled for Saturday, July 8 had to be rescheduled because of high water. Splash on the Wabash will offer three launch times: one at 10 a.m., Noon and 2 pm. Not only will there be rafting on the river but there will be food and games on the grounds of the Historic Forks of the Wabash Museum Park. The public is invited to attend this great day of family fun.

Senior Day at the Historic Forks of the Wabash will be Tuesday, August 15. Registration and programs begin at 10 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. Dani Tippman, director of the Whitley County Historical Museum and Research Center, will be the special speaker at 11 a.m. There will be artisans in the museum and throughout the park giving demonstrations of arts and crafts such as pottery making, spinning, chair caning, hand-crafted flutes, quilting, etc. Light refreshments will be served throughout the day. A suggested donation of $3 will go toward the museum programs. According to Historic Forks volunteers, this is a great opportunity to renew friendships and make new ones and all seniors are invited to attend.

A reminder that the Richardville Room in the main museum building is a great place to hold special events such as wedding receptions, reunions, business meetings, banquets, etc. The room will hold up to 180 persons comfortably and has a kitchen ready for use by caterers. Kim Noffsinger is the coordinator for scheduling this room and can be reached at (260) 479-8487.

With fall approaching, activity at the Historic Forks will increase with school and private tours. If your organization would like to schedule a private tour of the Forks Museum Buildings, call Donna in the museum office at (260) 356-1903.
