Forks announce events, need of volunteers

Posted: Friday, March 22, 2019

The Historic Forks of the Wabash is preparing for its annual indoor garage sale on Saturday, April 6 starting at 9 a.m. and concluding at 1 p.m. The Forks is currently accepting donations of items for the sale weekdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The Forks is not able to accept any electronic items for the sale. They will also be selling coffee and donuts during the sale. This is a primary fundraising event for the Forks of the Wabash Museum. All donations of clean clothing, miscellaneous household items, home décor, dishes, furniture, tools, and lawn/garden items will be greatly appreciated. The community is invited to attend and see what treasures can be found at this sale.

The Forks will once again be holding its annual Old-Fashioned Fourth of July celebration at the pavilion area of the museum. The festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a band concert followed by the program. Following the events outside, refreshments will be served in the Richardville Banquet facility in the main museum and buildings will be open for people to tour. Families may enjoy walking across the suspension bridge to Ehler Island and exploring the island. This is a community event and everyone is invited to attend.

The Forks is looking for individuals who would like to volunteer. Specific needs are guides and interpreters for the school and private tours at the Forks, miscellaneous work on small maintenance projects inside and out on the grounds, and individuals who might want to volunteer to help with special events taking place at the museum. Anyone interested in volunteering can call the office weekdays between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
