Ford Tri-Motor Tour is June 26-29 at airport

Posted: Friday, June 13, 2014

The Ford Tri-Motor Tour will be held June 26 through the 29 at the Huntington Municipal Airport. The airplane is a restored 1929 Ford Tri-Motor NC8407, the flagship of the Experimental Aircraft Association Pioneer Airport, a part of the EAA AirVenture Museum experience.

The Tri-Motor was restored by EAA staff and volunteers with assistance from Ford Tri-Motor operators nationwide over a twelve-year period. Its official debut and return to the skies took place at the 1985 EAA convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It was displayed in the AirVenture Museum until 1991 when it returned to its former role of delighting passengers on tour.

A Young Eagles Rally hosted by the EAA from Smith Field will take place on June 28 also at the Huntington Municipal Airport. It is an opportunity for children ages eight to 17 to receive a free airplane ride and an excellent way to expose the youth of the community to general aviation. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and rides will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
