Fitness Park to add equipment, donations sought

Posted: Friday, March 16, 2018

Plans are underway to add six new obstacles to the youth course and an additional climbing wall obstacle to the primary course at the Lake Clare Fitness Park. The park is located on the north end of Lake Clare off old U.S.-24E.

In order to complete the obstacles, the park’s construction coordinators are seeking to fundraise an additional $1,200. The coordinators wish to thank the Huntington Lions Club, which recently voted to purchase a $750 cargo net to help complete one of the obstacles.

Additionally, the coordinators are hoping to construct a fitness trail on the north end of Lake Clare. The trail would feature obstacles every 300 yards or so that users could interact with or run around to make the experience more memorable. A total of $3,000 is being sought for the project.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can send a check to the Huntington County Community Foundation or stop by their office at 356 W. Park Drive. Those donating are instructed to mention the fitness park on their envelope or on the memo line of their check. In addition to donations, the coordinators are requesting help digging a trench for new tunnel obstacles. To volunteer to help, contact Stan Bippus at (260) 224-6635 or sbippus@cinergymetro.net.
