First Federal donation starts Foundation match

Posted: Monday, May 3, 2021

First Federal Savings Bank has made a $25,000 donation to the Huntington County Community Foundation to kickstart a new matching initiative on unrestricted donations. As part of the match, $1 will be provided for every $2 that are donated up to $200,000 in total donations. Donations are then reinvested back into the community in the form of annual grants to charitable organizations and causes within Huntington County.

“First Federal Savings Bank is proud to take the lead on this Community Foundation Match”, states Michael Zahn, president and CEO. Zahn continues, “The Huntington County Community Foundation is an important resource for the success and sustainability of our community today and for years to come.”

The First Federal Savings Bank Community Fund is one of over 40 endowed funds at the Community Foundation that support over $200,000 in annual grantmaking to local charitable causes. Donors who give over the $5,000 level are invited to have their own community fund, take part in the sponsoring of grants, be present for check presentations and engage in projects that impact their local community

“First Federal Savings Bank has been a trusted community partner for many years,” said Matt Ditzler, executive director of the Community Foundation. “The annual grants generated from their fund have specifically supported our classroom education grant program which have provided thousands of dollars for projects created by our local teachers. This donation represents First Federal’s continued leadership and investment in our community.”

Since 1991, the Community Foundation’s annual community grants have awarded $2.1 million to over 150 organizations and classrooms thanks to hundreds of donors who invested in the Community Impact Fund. Those interested in supporting the Community Impact Fund and receiving a match are encouraged to reach out to Matt Ditzler at (260) 356-8878 for more information.
