Topics from the course include: the keys to getting ahead, developing a budget to get what you want, financial tools to help you, understanding credit, the importance of knowing your credit score, and what to do when things go wrong. All classes are two hours in length and attendees will need to supply the following: Their bankruptcy case number, their attorney’s name and a photo ID, and either a $50 money order if filed single or a $75 money order if filed jointly. Payment may also be made with a debit card.

At the end of the class, attendees will receive the required USDOJ Certificate of Completion. They will need to vie their attorney or court the Certificate of Completion to have their debts discharged. Registration is required and can be made by calling (260) 432-8200 or (800) 432-0420 or e-mailing Julie St. Martin at jst.martin@financialhope.org. Please note the program cost, including certificate are $50 for individual or $75 for couples, may be made by money orders, cashier’s check, or debit card and must be made prior to taking the course.

Before debts can be discharged, the Bankruptcy Law (BAPCPA of 2005) requires that the family take a course in personal financial management. FinancialHope offers an EOUST-approved class “Money in Motion.”
