EXPO/ArtsExpress partner for 2019 show

A new partnership formed in 2019 for the benefit of the community. The Festival of Arts showcasing exhibits and musical performances by Huntington County school students known as ArtsExpress, and the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce Business EXPO will combine on Saturday, March 16 for one fun-filled event.

Beginning at 9 a.m. in the Huntington University Merillat Physical Education and Recreation Center Fieldhouse, Huntington area school students will perform musical selections on stage throughout the day. Artwork by students in grades kindergarten through 12 will be on display at several booths throughout the fieldhouse.

Vendors desiring to showcase their business as part of the day can arrange for a booth to exhibit their products and services. The cost to Chamber members for one booth is $225; two booths, $375 and three booths, $525. Non-members can exhibit for $325 for one booth; two booths, $575 and three booths, $725. Those submitting their exhibitor’s application by Friday, February 22 will receive a $50 discount. The final deadline to submit the exhibitor’s application is Friday, March 8.

The booth price includes a 10 foot by 8 foot booth space with a black backdrop and side curtains. An additional 8 foot table will be provided with a white cover and skirting and two chairs. A sign identifying the company showcased will also be supplied.

It will be the 27th ArtsExpress for the students in Huntington County schools. ArtsExpress uses a variety of avenues to promote fine arts and arts education across the community. The Huntington County Community Schools sponsors and hosts ArtsExpress. Businesses from Huntington County will display their products and services in individual booths also as in previous EXPO years. A new logo combining both events was designed by Kenny Butler, Huntington North High School art teacher.

Student activities, business showcases, a food court, gift baskets and a drawing, demonstrations and more will be a part of the day that concludes at 3 p.m. There is no charge to the community to enter Huntington County EXPO and ArtsExpress. Transportation will be provided with golf carts bringing visitors to the EXPO from parking areas surrounding the Merillat complex.

Area schools participating at this time include Andrews, Anita Blade, art teacher, Emily Smith, music educator; Flint Springs, Annette Little, art teacher Connie Holzheuer, music educator; Horace Mann, Lyn Ocken, art educator, Jeni Yarger, music teacher; Lincoln, Shelby Paschal, art teacher; Roanoke, Sarah Stine, art teacher, Barry Jamison, music teacher; Salamonie, Cindy Callison, art teacher Doug Hofherr, music teacher. As registrations are received, more schools/teachers will be involved.

Near the performance stage and food court, tables and chairs will be available for visitors to relax and enjoy the food selections and entertainment. Beacon Credit Union will be the entertainment sponsor. The Joy Pleaser Clown ministry will be on hand to provide balloon fun for children.
