The Cottage Event Center in Roanoke will celebrate five years in business on Friday, March 24 with a concert featuring Country-Rock Band Sugar Shot. The event is a fundraiser for the Parkview Huntington Boys & Girls Club.

They proclaim themselves as “Hyper-active Country with a Shot of Rock.” Sugar Shot features Jen Fisher on guitar and vocals and Gwendra Turney on fiddle and vocals. The group has opened for a number of national touring acts, and has been featured at the Indianapolis Ribfest and ACD Festival. They have also performed in the Embassy Theater’s popular “Down the Line” concerts along with the Fort Wayne Air Show and at the 2014 Indiana State Republican Convention.

Sugar Shot’s performances include something for every taste from traditional Country to Country Rock. Their song list features everything from These Boots are Made for Walkin’, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Ring of Fire and Rocky Top, to Here for the Party by Gretchen Wilson, Pontoon by Little Big Town and Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd. They will even put a country spin on more current pop hits such as Uptown Funk.

The other members of the Sugar Shot band are Matt Roussel, guitar and vocals; Tommy Myers, bass and vocals and Clarence Boyd, drums and vocals.

Tickets are $12 and available from John’s Meat Market in Roanoke, with PayPal at, or by phone by calling (260) 483-3508. Doors open for the event at 6:30 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the Huntington law firm of DeLaney Hartburg Roth & Garrott.
