Evensong Concert Series to begin this Sunday

Posted: Friday, September 14, 2018

The fifth season of the Evensong Concert Series of Trinity United Methodist Church begins this month with a lecture-recital by Dr. Cindy Spring Romano of Huntington University. The program will be presented this Sunday, September 16, at 4 p.m.

Romano is an adjunct piano and organ professor and staff accompanist at Huntington University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois, with a major in piano performance, and a Master of Arts degree with a concentration in piano pedagogy from Western Illinois University. In 2014, Romano graduated from Ball State University with a Doctor of Arts. Her primary emphasis was piano performance and her secondary area was organ performance.

Romano has served as organist at Noblesville First United Methodist Church since 1993, where she currently plays both a pipe organ and a digital/electronic organ. The program will consist of Romano’s doctoral lecture recital and dissertation topic, written for an audience of pianists who are secondarily organists. In addition, she will perform the six Chorale Preludes from Brahms’ Op. 122 that Busoni transcribed, playing each chorale on both organ and piano.

The concert is free and open to the public. Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 530 Guilford Street. For more information call the church office at (260) 356-0961.
