EMA prepared for weather during Heritage Days

Posted: Friday, June 15, 2018

The Huntington County Emergency Management Agency has prepared their annual plan for possible severe weather during the downtown Heritage Days events. During all of the Heritage Days events in the downtown area, Our Skywarn team will be constantly monitoring the weather.

If a severe weather event does occur and the downtown area needs to be evacuated, the outdoor warning siren at the Lafontaine Center will be sounded. This does not necessarily mean there is a tornado, but means get to shelter. Designated shelter areas will be: the Huntington City-Township Public Library, the City Building and the Lafontaine Center.

Designated officials will be available to let the public into these buildings in case of an emergency. Citizens can also take shelter inside any business that is open. Please follow the direction of any Public Safety personnel including Emergency Management and Police Department.
