Easterday to retire from Bippus State Bank

John Easterday, executive vice president of Bippus State Bank, will celebrate his retirement and 66th birthday on Friday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the bank’s 150 Hauenstein Road location. Easterday has been employed at Bippus State Bank since January 13, 1992. The public is invited to stop by the bank and congratulate Easterday on his special day.

Easterday is known for his dedicated service to the customers of Bippus State Bank and his community. He began his banking career after a stint in the United States Army, February 1966 to February 1968, and attending Indiana University. Easterday became employed at Community State Bank in June 1969 and held positions in the areas of agriculture, real estate, commercial lending and management. From 1986 to 1991 he was senior vice president of Community and president of the bank in 1991. He also continued his education at the American Institute of Banking Compliance School; the Indiana Banker’s Agricultural Lending School, Purdue University; the Indiana Banker’s Commercial Lending School, Indianapolis; the Graduate School of Banking, Madison, Wisconsin and the Indiana Banker’s Agricultural Commercial School.

Community State Bank merged with Lincoln National Bank on April 1, 1991 and Easterday was Community president of Lincoln National Bank until January 13, 1992 when he began his career at Bippus State Bank. Easterday has remained at Bippus for 20 years. While serving his clients at the various banks Easterday has also been busy taking care of his family and serves his church and the community. He has been a long-time United Way volunteer and has been a part of the board and served as its president. He was named the United Way Volunteer of the Year for 2012 and was selected through the Chamber of Commerce as the Chief of the Flint Springs Tribe in 2010.

Easterday is currently a member of the Huntington University Foundation Board and is a past president. He is also a past board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington County; Rotary Club, board member; Lime City Economic Development, board and past president; Huntington County Economic Development, board and past president; Optimist Club; Huntington County Community Foundation; extension board; 4-H Fair board and honorary FFA.

Faithful attendance and service to Faith Chapel United Methodist Church have been a large part of Easterday’s life. He also “loves” farming and currently farms 70 acres of his own and helps a friend farm over 2,000 acres. He was born in Wolf Lake, Indiana, lived in Noble County, graduated from Columbia City High School in 1965 and worked for the Kroger Corporation while in school. He has been married for 42 years to his wife Susanne and they have two daughters, Mrs. Dawne (Dave) Pearson and Mrs. Brooke (Joshua) Farrington, and two grandchildren, Lauryne and Landen Pearson.
