Disability Employment Month recognized

Posted: Friday, November 8, 2013

Pathfinder Resource Connection recognized National Disability Employment Awareness Month, an annual awareness campaign that takes place each October, by hosting a luncheon for its staff members. The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate communities about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.

The luncheon honors the dedication Pathfinder Resource Connection employees have in supporting the mission of partnering people with employers to empower communities. Prior to lunch being served, John Niederman, president of Pathfinder Services, read proclamations which were signed by Mayor Brooks Fetters of Huntington, Mayor Ryan Daniel of Columbia City and Mayor Robert E. Vanlandingham of Wabash which proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Pathfinder Resource Connections team members from all counties were then presented with a gift created by those who are served and are earning an income at Pathfinder OutSource Manufacturing. These gifts were presented by Jonah Hunt and his manager, Jeremy Penrod, from Walgreens in Huntington. Jonah has experienced great success since gaining employment in November 2012 with the help of Pathfinder Resource Connection staff. The luncheon was catered by Bob Evans in Huntington with dessert from The Cake Lady in Columbia City.
