DC Thrift store opens in downtown Huntington

Posted: Friday, February 21, 2014

The Indiana Dream Center thrift store known as DC Thrift, has opened for business at 501 N. Jefferson Street in downtown Huntington. The thrift store is now located in the former Sewing Basket.

The thrift store accepts donations of furniture, appliances, glassware, clothing, luggage, jewelry and more. There is even a boutique area for those shopping for purses.

The store is managed by Chris Walker with all the employees volunteering their time. Walker said, “The money made from the thrift store is all put back in the Indiana Dream Center’s discipleship program. Volunteers are individuals that would like to help our organization or may be individuals that are court ordered to do community service.

Rob Hollinger, executive director of the Indiana Dream Center, said “we always tithe our income back to the community through some type of charity.” Hollinger and Walker went on to say that “The Dream Center will pick up items that are donated to the DC Thrift store and for a very small fee will deliver items to our customers’ home.”

The DC Thrift store is open on Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
