Posted: Friday, May 17, 2013

Gary Davisson won the Huntington County Historical Museum’s “Hoosier Heritage Art Show and Contest” Division III: Adult, as well as Best of Show. He was inspired to paint the image after observing the Wabash River and imagining the braves who fought in the area.

Aden Plasterer, was the winner of Division I, Ages 5-11. Aden’s entry was a polyurethane and stain on canvas of Abraham Lincoln’s funeral procession through Michigan City, Indiana. He was inspired after learning that the citizens of Michigan City held an impromptu funeral for the President as the train carrying his body passed through to Chicago.

Shown in the photo is Gary Davisson, left, winner of the Hoosier Heritage Art Show and Contest, and Sarah Schmidt, director of the Huntington County Historical Museum.
