Daniel Johns opens photography business

Posted: Friday, January 31, 2020

Although he may be more recognizable in his role of teaching children important things as the executive director of the Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center, Daniel Johns has brought his passion for photography to the forefront as he established D.B. Johns Photography in 2018.

“I have always enjoyed shooting photos for myself and my family,” says Johns. “However, I really wanted to bring the quality and imaginative value of my photos up a notch. I put in a large amount of time, study and practice into the technical side of photography, its lighting and editing. I also did a lot of studying on the artistic side for composition. I pull a lot of inspiration from the Dutch Masters, such as Rembrandt and Vermeer. In the end, I really enjoy my photography to focus on the person who is the subject, especially engaging their eyes. To paraphrase photographer, Joe Edelman - “You’ve purchased a camera with a lot of megapixels … why waste them on anything that isn’t your subject or something you want included?”

D.B. Johns Photography specializes in portraits, whether in natural light or a studio setting for students, couples and families. Johns also specializes in providing professional headshots, and also provides event and other media needs photography in the Huntington area. Portfolio examples and pricing available at www.dbjohnsphoto.com.

“There are a lot of people out there who can shoot a picture for today. I strive to shoot a portrait that will last lifetimes.” - Daniel Johns.
