Dance recitals, December 7; music, December 9

The YMCA Winter Dance recitals will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. featuring two different shows. The recital will be held on the Huntington University campus at the Merillat Centre for the Arts (MCA) auditorium with doors opening 30 minutes before each show.

Advance tickets are available at the YMCA front desk for $6 per show or $9 for a super pass, which allows guests to attend both shows. Tickets will also be available the day of the show for $8 at the door. Both shows will feature students in several dance styles including jazz, pointe, clogging, tap, character, hip hop, ballet and lyrical with the 7 p.m. show also featuring ballroom. The YMCA’s School of Dance boasts over 280 dancers, instruction in nine styles of dance with 38 classes held each week.

The YMCA’s School of Music students will display talents in cello, piano, guitar, viola and violin through solos, duets and group pieces. The Y School of Music’s winter recital is Monday, December 9 featuring two different shows with one held at 6 p.m. and the second at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 530 Guilford Street. Music recital tickets may be purchased on the night of the show for $3 per guest with a $10 per family maximum. The YMCA School of Music is growing each session and is currently in its fourth year.
