Posted: Friday, August 12, 2011

The Courtyard Studio and Boutique is open at 223 Wayne Street in Warren, just beyond DeWeese Softwater and Appliance and D & D Bike Shop. Ruth Swanson, resident artist, owns the shop which is open Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Courtyard Studio and Boutique’s business cards read “cleverly creative and finely crafted ideas in art.”  Along that line, the Boutique features lovely, clever and one-of-a kind ideas of art and specialty items featuring 24 different designer/artists and fine crafters at affordable prices. Many of those with products featured in the shop are local artists. Items available include jewelry, purses, aprons, hats including red hats, kimonos, sweaters, baskets, historical note cards, mixed media collages, all natural lotions- soaps-bath salts, soy candles, hand-carved ink pens, outdoor garden art and chairs, dips, mixes, homemade candy and much more.

Adult workshops will be available focused on women, art and spirituality. Each month a female artist will be featured by Carole Holmes Gordon. Visuals, handouts, as well as a simple activity in the manner of the featured artist will be used by Gordon. A lunch or supper will be served finished with a chocolate dessert at each workshop. The cost for each of these workshops is $30 and is ideal for book groups or as a gift for a special person. An optional massage will be available.
