County Commissioners raise service flags

Posted: Friday, May 26, 2017

The Huntington County Commissioners raised five service flags representing the five branches of the armed forces. The ceremony took place on the northwest corner of the Courthouse lawn on Thursday, May 25 at 2 p.m.

The community was invited to attend the ceremony. Those attending heard from Tim Eckert, Veterans Services Officer and Tom Wall, president, Huntington County Commissioners. Bruce Stanton, former Veterans Services Officer, led the Pledge of Allegiance. Ed Hippensteel, chaplain, American Legion Post #7, gave the prayer. Eckert then gave a brief history of the monument and of each of the five branches of the armed forces. Wall then presented a plaque to the Legion Riders for their service to the veterans.

Shown in the photo are all five service flags plus the American flag flying at the Courthouse.
