Cottage Event Center to present Oldies Show

Roanoke’s Cottage Event Center will add an opportunity to enjoy food and music with an afternoon event immediately following the 1st Annual “Rolling into Roanoke” Car Show July 19. The facility will present “Cruise the Cottage” featuring Fort Wayne Oldies Rock trio Freddy & the Hot Rods.

Cruise The Cottage is geared for both locals and the large number of visitors expected to come into Roanoke for the new car event. It is geared toward families, particularly those who have spent a long day participating in the car show. Food available will include hot dogs, Sloppy Joes, chili dogs and desserts, plus a cash bar and soft drinks.

Freddy & the Hot Rods features, long-time Fort Wayne area musician Fred Rothert. Rothert was previously lead guitarist for popular Country musician Arvel Byrd, and later fronted his own band Smokin.’ The group’s repertoire includes old time classics from artists including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beach Boys, Chuck Berry and Roy Orbison. The band also often plays a variety of country hits from Nashville stars like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Hank Williams.

Doors for Cruise the Cottage open at 4 p.m.; Freddy & the Hot Rods will take the stage at 4:30 p.m. The show is scheduled to run until approximately 8 p.m. Tickets are ten dollars in advance and may be ordered by calling (260) 483-3508, or purchased online with PayPal at www.cottageeventcenter.com. Tickets may also be purchased at Good Grains Gluten Free Bakery in Roanoke. Tickets will also be available at the door for fifteen dollars.
