Cottage Event Center to celebrate Elvis Presley

Posted: Friday, January 4, 2019

Roanoke’s Cottage Event Center plays host to a night of tribute to the music of legendary singer Elvis Presley with a concert by “El’s Angels,” starring renowned Rockabilly guitarist Kenny Taylor. The event is scheduled for Friday, January 18, and is a fundraiser for Northeast Indiana Honor Flight.

The event will feature two hours of Elvis songs, ranging from his early recording at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis to the later works on RCA. The concert is not an impersonation but rather an homage to the spirit of Presley’s art paying tribute to his influence on popular music.

Guitarist Kenny Taylor is among the most popular and highly regarded musicians in the area. He has recently opened for Rock Legends Steve Miller Band, Boston and Hughie Lewis & The News at Fort Wayne’s Foellinger Theater. His former band The Blue Moon Boys opened for legends like Bo Didley, Dick Dale and Stray Cats front man Brian Setzer. He also played lead guitar with “Twistin’ Tarantulas,” a Detroit based Rockabilly band, and has also played with Carl Storie, well known lead singer of Indianapolis based 70’s group Faith Band.

Taylor’s current projects include playing lead guitar for popular oldies band The Bulldogs, Rockabilly trio KT3 (featuring son Colin on upright bass) and children’s music ukulele duo The Atomic Sharks featured on The PBS TV special “Play the Ukulele with The Atomic Sharks.” Taylor also plays with Fort Wayne’s Farmland Jazz Band, and teaches guitar at the Sweetwater Academy of Music.

A cash bar will be available, and food will be on sale from East of Chicago Pizza of Warren. Tickets are $12 per person, and may be ordered by calling (260) 483-3508, online at or at John’s Meat Market in Roanoke.
