Cottage Event Center features Wharton

Posted: Friday, March 22, 2013

The Cottage Event Center in Roanoke will feature Don Wharton in a special program Sunday, April 21. Wharton is a Christian singer and songwriter who has performed over 3,000 concerts throughout the country.

The proceeds from the event will benefit the Roanoke Food Pantry. Doors will open at 1 p.m. with the performance scheduled for 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Wharton has performed in every state in the country since beginning his music ministry full time in 1979. His music often incorporates humor with a Christian, family values oriented message. He is a former baseball and basketball player who also coached baseball at Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Michigan for three years.

The highlight of Wharton’s performance is the telling of the true story of how he and six others survived after their twin engine plane crashed into the Bering Sea near Nome, Alaska while returning from a mission trip to the Soviet Union in 1993.

Light refreshments will be available for purchase at the event. For ticket information contact Jim Amstutz at (260) 483-3508.
