Posted: Friday, November 9, 2012

“A Cottage Christmas Celebration,” a concert featuring seasonal music both old and new, will be presented at the Cottage Event Center in Roanoke Friday, December 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event is being performed and directed by a group of theater and music students from Huntington University.

Among the lineup of songs for the show are old favorites such as White Christmas, Silent Night, and It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, plus newer selections including Mr. Grinch, Baby It’s Cold Outside and All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth.

Performing in the concert are: Lindsay Hoops-Siewert (Fort Wayne), Ja’Shon Burkes (Indianapolis), Josh Cookingham (Hyde Park, NY), Jessica Wagel (Hillsboro, KS),  Trenidy Cox (New Paris, IN), and Haley Glinz (Spring Arbor, MI). Hoops-Siewart and Burkes double as co-directors of the production, while Burkes also serves as choreographer.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Northeast Indiana Honor Flights program, which provides cost free trips for military veterans to Washington D.C. to visit sites including the World War II Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. The event center will offer ham sandwiches with various sides and an assortment of desserts. Tickets are $10, and available at the Cottage Kitchen and Café in Roanoke, Mike Gibson’s State Farm Insurance Agency in Roanoke and Bippus State Bank (north Huntington and Roanoke branches). Dinner will be available for purchase before the concert. Tickets may be also ordered by phone by calling (260) 483-3508.
