Community invited to new premium classes at Y

Posted: Friday, August 16, 2019

Parkview Huntington Family YMCA offers many brand name “Premium Group” exercise classes. These are classes that are choreographed by fitness companies such as Les Mills and Beachbody. Huntington YMCA instructors are trained and certified to teach these classes in a certain format. The classes are tested and proven successful for fitness and fun. The Huntington YMCA is the only Y in this region that offers these specialized classes.

Periodically new releases for classes are presented to the community during a “Launch Party.” The next “Launch Party” is set for Saturday, August 24. At this upcoming party, there will be four adult classes offered beginning at 8 to 10 a.m. Adult classes are for ages 14 and up.

There will also be one family class of Aqua Stand Up held in the pool at 10:30 a.m. Aqua Stand Up Family is open to all ages (including children who are green band swimmers). Aqua Stand Up is a paddle board class offered in the pool and involves balance and short bursts of exercise. This class is a fun workout and can be modified for all fitness levels. The YMCA is the only place in Indiana offering Aqua Stand Up.

The “Launch Party” event on August 24 is open to both members and non-members. Aqua Stand Up and RPM Indoor Cycling have limited space, so it is advised that you call the YMCA to reserve your spot in these classes the day before the event at (260) 359-9622. All other classes have unlimited space, so just show up.

On August 24 the following new classes will be held: GRIT Strength at 8 a.m. (in upstairs studio), Body Combat at 8:45 a.m. (in the gym) and P90X Live at 10 a.m. (in upstairs studio). The RPM Cycle Class at 9:15 a.m. will be held in the Y Cycle Studio.

All group exercise classes will also be free during the entire week of August 26. The YMCA invites the community to visit on August 24 to join in the fun and see what they have to offer in Premium Group Fitness and to come back during the free week to further check out all of the classes.

Group premium class schedules and descriptions can be viewed on the Y website: www.huntingtony.org (under Programs/Health & Wellness) and can also be found on the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/parkviewhuntingtonfamilyYMCA.
