Community Gala to take place October 27

Posted: Friday, September 21, 2012

The 2012 Parkview Huntington Community Gala will be held Saturday, October 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital. The semi-formal event will include a social hour, welcoming remarks from Parkview Health chief executive officer Mike Packnett and Parkview Huntington Hospital chief operating officer Darlene Garrett, an array of fine food and beverages, and the centerpiece of the evening, the announcement of the recipient of the Dr. R.B. Peare and Dr. John B. Kay Award.

Nominations are being accepted through September 21 from area health care professionals and the public for the prestigious award, named for two Huntington physicians who were instrumental in advancing health services locally and in establishing the current Parkview Huntington Hospital.

On behalf of their late husbands, Mrs. Helen Peare and Mrs. Sharon Kay will help present the award, which recognizes significant and lasting contributions to the advancement of health care in Huntington County and the surrounding area, made primarily from 1960 to the present. Retired nurse Marilyn Rittenhouse, of Huntington, received the initial Dr. R.B. Peare and Dr. John B. Kay Award in 2011.

The gala is co-sponsored by the boards of directors of Parkview Huntington Hospital and the Parkview Huntington Foundation. Proceeds from the event will benefit health care needs of children in the community. Tickets are $75 per person, and a limited number will be available to the public. The event will be held in the hospital’s main hallway with heavy hors d’oeuvres, a selection of desserts, and an open bar available throughout the evening.

Reservation information for the event, as well as guidelines for the award nominations, are available from Mike Perkins, director of the Parkview Huntington Foundation, at (260) 355-3316.
