Community Gala to honor the late Holly Sale

Posted: Friday, March 1, 2019

The late Holly D. Sale, who inspired the efforts to create the expanded Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at Parkview Huntington Hospital, will be honored with the Dr. R.B. Peare and Dr. John B. Kay Award for Excellence in Healthcare at the upcoming Parkview Huntington Community Gala.

The award presentation will be the highlight of the April 6 gathering at the PAL Event Center in Huntington. Mrs. Helen Peare and Mrs. Sharon Kay will present the award following remarks from several of Holly Sale’s associates on the enduring influence she had on her friends, colleagues and community. Sale’s selection for the award by the Parkview Huntington Foundation board of directors and hospital senior leadership marks a departure from the traditional practice of choosing an honoree from among those nominated by the public and hospital staff in an annual process.

Jeremy Nix, a member of the foundation’s board of directors, will be the evening’s master of ceremonies.

Sale’s career in physical therapy and rehabilitation services spanned 39 years at Huntington Memorial Hospital and Parkview Huntington Hospital. She is the eighth recipient of the Peare-Kay award; other honorees are Todd Sider, MD; J. David Carnes, MD; Anil V. Rao, MD; and Duane Hougendobler, MD, as well as registered nurses Ruth Wall, Mary Wilson and Marilyn Rittenhouse.

Sale headed Parkview Huntington’s Rehabilitation and Wellness Center from the hospital’s opening in 2000 until her death in June 2017. She was the guiding force in the planning that led to the construction of the expansion project that will bear her name following a rededication in late April or early May.

Gala guests will enjoy gourmet fare and beverages, fine entertainment, and photos capturing the spirit of the evening. Reservations are $75 per person and will be accepted via the foundation office through Friday, March 29.

Proceeds from the Gala will augment the Clinician Education Fund at Parkview Huntington Hospital, which makes it possible for members of the hospital’s front-line staff and supervisors to attend conference, workshop and symposium opportunities throughout the region and the nation.
