Community Connections to host workshop

Pathfinder Community Connections, the Community Development division of Pathfinder Services, will be presenting and hosting a FREE Money Smart Week workshop from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday October 20 in their office located at 2824 Theater Avenue in Huntington. The workshop will include free credit reports, banking and finance tips from Teachers Credit Union and First Source Bank, Financial Literacy tips from the Huntington County Purdue Extension Office, and presentations from staff of Pathfinder Community Connections.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

10 to 11:00 a.m. and 1 to 2:00 p.m.:
Pathfinder Community Connections will run FREE credit reports for anyone who is interested

11 a.m. to noon:
Deanna Scott from Teachers Credit Union will lead a session on Credit Union tips
Lyle Juillerat from First Source Bank will lead a session on banking tips
Karen Hinshaw from the Huntington County Purdue Extension Office will lead a session on Why to Avoid Buy Here Pay Here/Financial Literacy

Noon to 1 p.m.
Jeff Teusch from Pathfinder Community Connections will lead a session on Individual Development Accounts & Home Ownership
Beth Stevens from Pathfinder Community Connections will lead a session on Free Tax Preparation & Car Loan Program
Martina Young from Pathfinder Community Connections will lead a session on How to Build Your Credit Score.

“This is an outstanding collaboration of partners focused on educating residents on everything the community has to offer,” stated Beth Stevens, Family Self Sufficiency Coordinator for Pathfinder Community Connections. “There are so many FREE resources available on financial awareness and literacy for community members to take advantage of, we are trying to spread the word on everything available,” Stevens concluded.
