Cole Porter dinner at Historic Honeywell House

The Honeywell House, 720 N. Wabash Street, Wabash will host a dinner with Cole Porter on Friday, January 24. Dr. Jason Gornto will act as Cole Porter for the evening.

It’s delightful! It’s delovely! You won’t want to miss the opportunity to dine with Mr. Cole Porter in celebration of Mark Honeywell’s 145th birthday. As your host for the evening, Porter will take you on an autobiographical journey from his early days in Peru to his biggest Broadway shows. Stories behind some of Porter’s greatest hits tell the narrative of a charmed and sometimes tragic life. Porter will charm you at the piano with his music, lyrics and storytelling.

Dr. Jason Gornto, portraying Cole Porter, will keep the setting lively at the piano following dinner. Gornto is a lifelong resident of Peru, Indiana where he teaches music at Peru High School. He has been active in Miami and Wabash Counties performing arts for more than 30 years. Gornto performs regularly around the state and plays each year in New Orleans at the French Quarter Festival with the Swampwater Stompers. He and his wife Denise have two children and enjoy traveling in their free time.

The menu will feature shrimp bisque; pan-seared airline chicken breast with mustard and tarragon cream sauce, bleu cheese mashed potatoes with chives, honey and herb-glazed baby carrots; and Italian lemon cream cake with raspberry coulis, fresh berries and whipped cream.
