Circus tickets now available to purchase

Posted: Friday, July 6, 2012

It’s a cry that has thrilled men and women, boys and girls all over America for more than 200 years - “The circus is coming to town.” In a time when entertainment choices come and go with the click of a remote, the circus, looking backward to its storied past and forward toward its exciting future, is something constant.

As part of their 76th consecutive year of touring the USA, Carson & Barnes Circus, the largest traveling big top tent circus in America will visit Huntington on Wednesday, August 1, to present two shows at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the lot adjacent to W.A. Zimmer, 1700 N. Broadway at the corner of Broadway and U.S. 24 Bypass. The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce is organizing the event and MarkleBank is the corporate sponsor.

The big circus trucks will roll into Huntington in the early morning hours of show day and start to unload the equipment, animals and people who embody the Carson & Barnes Circus adjacent to W.A. Zimmer. Everyone, including the scores of circus fans who come out to watch will be part of a tradition of family entertainment that has crisscrossed America bringing thrills, excitement and laughter to millions for two centuries.

Come out early and bring the kids to watch the circus set up for business. Yes, the elephants, Isa, Libby, and Bunny, will be there, doing their part helping to raise the big tent. No work for Katy, the pigmy hippo, though, she usually just watches from a cool spot in the shade.  If you haven’t got tickets yet, there’s still time. And then you can plan to be back for one of the big shows later in the day.

Advance tickets, offering the best value for circus fans, are being sold locally at the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce, 305 Warren Street, Roanoke Chamber of Commerce, Markle Chamber of Commerce, Warren Chamber of Commerce, 4-H Fair board members and businesses in each community.
