Christmas in the City Reimagined for 2020

Posted: Friday, November 20, 2020

Christmas in the City will look a little different, “Reimagined” as its being designated, for 2020. The mayor, health department and other members of the Downtown Business Association met Thursday, November 19 deciding that Christmas in the City will change due to the rampant increase in COVID cases.

The changes include lighting the Christmas tree in Rotary Park, downtown, on Wednesday, November 25 before Thanksgiving with no public gathering. Santa, The Grinch, Snoopy, Buddy the Elf and other elves will greet families in their cars in front of the Courthouse as parents drive by on Saturday, November 28 from 3 to 5 p.m. Those driving by will be required to stay in their cars, but may drop letters written to Santa in advance in a special mailbox.

As part of Christmas in the City Reimagined, The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging you to eat, shop, spend and enjoy our local businesses individually. Downtown businesses will be open on Saturday, November 28 for Christmas in the City Reimagined and Small Business Saturday for individual shopping. Other activities scheduled for the downtown area have been cancelled.
