Children’s Choir to hold rehearsal, placement
Posted: Friday, August 19, 2016
The Children’s Choir of Huntington County (CCHC) will hold an open rehearsal and choral placement for any child between the ages of eight and 18 interested in singing. The rehearsal will take place Monday, August 22 from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the Merillat Center for the Arts on the campus of Huntington University. Auditions will follow from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Every child who auditions will be placed in a group appropriate for their age, level of musical experience and vocal readiness.
“We are blessed to have such a premier program available in our community,” said Heather Clampitt, president of the Children’s Choir board. “The members of CCHC have the opportunity to develop technical skills while exploring musical arrangements in a variety of languages at an early age.”
According to Clampitt, who has two children in CCHC, being a member of the choir means more than just singing. “The experiences afforded through community performances, social gatherings and collaborations with other choral organizations offer musical and personal development on many levels,” said Clampitt. “In the summer of 2017, members will have the opportunity for a tour to North Carolina to attend the North Carolina Summer Institute of Choral Art.”
No appointments are necessary for the auditions. Children should arrive at the Merillat Center for the Arts by 6 p.m. Parents are also welcome. Contact Sharon Lehman, artistic director, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
