Posted: Thursday, September 29, 2016

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce will host its fall Lunch ‘n Learn on Wednesday, October 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The title of this seminar is “Active Shooters,” with the presentation focusing on the importance of knowing what to do if an active shooter enters your building. The seminar will be held at the Horace Mann Education Center, 2485 Waterworks Road.

Chief Deputy Chris Newton, of the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, and Trent Kiefer, of the Indiana State Police, will speak to those attending the seminar and let them know what to and what not to do if you are confronted by or an active shooter is in your area. Newton and Kiefer will highlight several things you can do to divert the attention of the shooter, how to escape danger, hiding and slowing the process down to give ample time for law enforcement to arrive.

Contact the Chamber office by emailing skimmel@huntington-chamber.com or by calling the office at (260) 356-5300 by Monday, October 24 to RSVP. The cost of lunch is $10.
