Chamber to host Lunch ‘n Learn on May 4

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce will host its spring Lunch ‘n Learn on Wednesday, May 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The title of this seminar is “Detecting & Preventing Employee Theft & Embezzlement,” and will focus on the importance of keeping an eye on your employees and finances. The seminar will be held at the Horace Mann Education Center, 2485 Waterworks Road.

Barry Webne, author, advisor, lecturer, trainer and consultant will be the presenter. He will discuss ways to keep your employees honest and keep your bottom line intact.

Webne is an experienced corporate controller, general manager and respected authority on the prevention and detection of occupational fraud and employee theft. Webne trains, lectures to and consults with financial and managerial professionals across the United States and Canada. He has published four books on the topic of employee theft and fraud and speaks regularly to professional trade associations.

Webne graduated from the University of Toledo in 1987 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a focus on accounting. He rapidly climbed the corporate ladder in various management and technology-related positions. He is also a convicted felon; convicted twice for embezzling more than $1 million each from two of his employers. In each case, he was sentenced to incarceration in federal prison. Since 2006 he has devoted his career to helping businesses and organizations implement controls to mitigate their risk of occupational fraud and theft.
