Chamber to hold Internship Program January 11

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce plans to hold a Regional Internship Program Workshop Lunch ’n Learn on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Horace Mann Education Center, 2485 Waterworks Road. The workshop will begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude by 1 p.m.
Jordan Brockman, Internship Program Manager at Fort Wayne Metals, will be the guest speaker. Brockman will give an overview of the Internship Program at Fort Wayne Metals. During the workshop, the group will discuss the development of a structured internship program, and how they can help employers in the area maximize their talent pipeline and bottom line.
Also presenting during the seminar will be Tiffanney Drummond, director of the Huntington County Community Learning Center. Drummond will discuss opportunities that are available for high school students. Kay Schwob and Margaret Pasko, both from Huntington University will discuss the many opportunities afforded college students. Schwob is the director of the Enterprise Resource Center and Pasko assists international students in maintaining their F-1 status. Schwob works to place Huntington University students into internships in Huntington County and beyond.
Brockman will go over key concepts from the guide she has created. Employers will also have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about a recent survey that was sent to employers and more about upcoming events. Employers who are interested can also connect with the Regional Partnership staff and Brockman to receive strategic planning and coaching on internship program implementation at their business.
Topics covered will include: Wired for Success, Fort Wayne Metals Internship Program; Recruitment of Interns; Onboarding Interns; Developing and Mentoring Interns; Social Media and Engagement and Mutual Evaluation. The workshop will also include a time for questions and answers.
